As Lolly and Pops were fighting the great stomach bug of 2010, we were relaxing at my mom's house in Houston. Considering I wasn't even a month into my new job, it was really nice to have the whole week off (even though Jeremy worked Monday in the Houston office). Sawyer really enjoyed practicing crawling on my mom's floor - he was getting so close to the real thing!
Tuesday morning we packed up and headed back to Austin, repacked, made a Target run, grabbed Dixie, and drove another 45 minutes into the hill country to Wimberley. We rented a great home there for the rest of the week - we wanted a central location for anyone in either of our families to feel welcome to spend the holiday, but in the end only Jeremy's side was able to make it. It was so relaxing and lovely staying there! The house was great - it had a well-equipped kitchen, a cozy den with a huge TV, a large master suite, an upstairs with a guest suite and a fun game room, and downstairs was another guest suite with a kitchenette and laundry. Outside in the back there was a fire pit, a great pool and hot tub, and the most perfect deck overlooking the green hills.

Funny story: Jeremy's friend from high school and college lives in the house in the far left corner. Small world! (I've seen the front of her home on her blog, that's how I knew!)

Tuesday evening we unpacked, and Jeremy and I went to the grocery store with Josh and Jamie to stock up. After a spending a fortune in time and money, we returned and I started cooking our first meal - spaghetti, Caesar salad and garlic bread. Yum!

After dinner it was time for some presents!! Jamie and Josh brought Sawyer some Christmas presents because they'll be with Jamie's family over Christmas, so we let him practice opening. He thought the ribbons were pretty cool, and the presents were just okay. Ha! Jamie and Judy also opened their respective birthday gifts, and Josh got to open his early Christmas present, too.

At some point in the evening Sawyer was fussing a little, but every single time he saw the light come on on Jamie's camera he broke into a huge smile. We all witnessed it, and it was no fluke - this little boy was totally cheesing for the camera! He cracks me up.

Stay tuned for the rest of our week...
