A week late on this post...so we'll call it 8 months + 1 week. In my defense last Friday was Black Friday and we were busy playing in Wimberley with family!
What is SHH up to at 8 months?
Eating: Perfect little eater! Not picky, eats anything, and loves it. We've tried just about every kind of Gerber Stage 2 baby food. I did find the green vegetables with grains seemed to upset him - maybe it was just a rough day, but he was very, very fussy so we got rid of that kind! With daycare now we changed our schedule slightly - breakfast is a fruit with grains and a bottle, then he gets a mid-morning bottle, lunch is a fruit or veggie and a bottle, an afternoon bottle, and dinner is a meat or veggie and a bottle. Each bottle is about 6.5 oz and he's finishing them pretty well these days. I'm happy to not be wasting too much formula right now. I give him some water in a sippy cup every now and then to practice using it, and he thinks it's pretty cool. We tried sweet potato puffs last night and he can't quite get something that small into his mouth yet, and then had trouble chewing them. I also got him some Mum Mums - he hated the plain rice flavor, but he thinks the veggie ones are okay. They're mostly just a toy to him than a snack.
Sleeping: He's a perfect little sleeper, too! He sleeps about 12 hours each night - he goes down around 7:30pm and wakes up around 7am. He's never been a great napper and has a little trouble napping at daycare, but he'll sleep when he's tired, so I don't worry too much. He's just not going to take a 2-hour nap ever and that's okay. He will wake every now and then during the night, but he'll either settle himself back down or we go in and give him his pacifier and he's fine. He is so easy to put down - if he even fusses at all, it's just for a minute and then he's asleep. I always wait for the magic sign before I put him down to nap or for bed - eye rubbing! The second he rubs his eyes it's off to bed, and I know without a doubt he is tired and will sleep.
Diapers: Still size 3 Pampers Cruisers, though dad just bought some Huggies so we're trying those out now.
Clothes: 9 month or 12 month, depending on the brand.
New tricks: Really, really crawling! He is such a quick little guy now, and I think he loves having the freedom to move toward what he wants. This makes daycare really fun for him, since they have a nice setup with soft floors and lots of toys. Every evening when we get home we play on the floor and it's so much fun! He's very recently sort of started pulling up - he'll try to climb up my legs or a pile of laundry, and I heard at daycare he pulled up on the rocker while they were feeding another little girl (he loves food, what can I say?). His 2 bottom teeth are coming in very well, and one of the top ones is thisclose to breaking through, so soon he'll have 3! He puts his arms out when he wants someone to hold him, which is so, so cute, and I think he might be close to waving. Sometimes he'll stick his arm out awkwardly when he sees someone, and I think it could be the beginnings of a wave. He has also been babbling a lot and most recently has been saying "mamamamama" a lot. He'll also say "babababa" or "dadadada" but it's mostly mama these days - no complaints here. The other night when I got him from daycare his teacher and I were laughing about something, and he burst out laughing also. It was too funny - like he really just needed to add something to our conversation. He has such a silly, sweet, goofy personality, and I love it so much.
Favorites: Crawling! Dixie, remotes, his baby Bible at Lolly's, bowls, spoons, spatulas, measuring spoons, dropping things and getting us to pick them up, "This Little Piggy Went to Market" and "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", reading books, eating books, and being outside.
He is just the best baby and I love watching him grow and learn! I love you, baby boy!
Meagan, that is the most precious picture of you two. He has such a sweet smile!
