Four Christmases

Jeremy worked in Houston all week before Christmas, but S and I had a fun time just the two of us! Friday morning we packed up the car and headed to my mom's house, where Jeremy met us. We played with Mimi's toys, ran a few last minute errands with Aunt Amanda, and then just the three of us went to Christmas Eve service. We got to see a couple real camels, sheep and a donkey on our way in. Good thing, because we didn't know there was childcare and Sawyer did not care for the service! He made it through the first couple songs - he just sat in Jeremy's lap, holding the program (kid loves paper), and watching the stage, but once they started the "play" portion he'd had enough. We tried sitting in the foyer and watching the TV, but that didn't work well either, so we opted for Starbuck's and looking at lights in Prestonwood. But the great Christmas Eve Monsoon of 2010 began, so we just headed back home. We had a yummy dinner of turkey, sweet potatoes, and salad, and some fudge and toffee for dessert! We opened presents after S went to sleep that night, and laughed a lot!

Christmas morning, Santa had left a few things for all of us in our stockings! Sawyer certainly doesn't "get" Christmas yet, but he did seem to enjoy his new toys. After breakfast we headed down to Jeremy's parents' house to open presents and regroup. That afternoon we stopped by my dad's house, ate a little of their Christmas dinner, and opened presents from each other. Sawyer made out like a bandit, and he had some special time with his Geeps who read A Fly Went By before we left.

After that we arrived at Jeremy's Aunt Pat's house to see his extended family. We enjoyed another delicious dinner, and had fun catching up with Meemaw and Peepaw, Pat, Dan, Erin, Amy, Chris and their little girls. Sawyer did amazingly well for getting almost no naps during the day - I was very impressed!

The next evening we were able to go to Emily and Justin's annual Christmas party. It was so much fun to catch up with our Houston friends, and the food was all homemade and amazing per usual. It was a quick trip for the holidays, and we wish we could have spent longer with everyone! Maybe next year we'll host in Austin? :)

Merry Christmas!
