11 Months!

{Note: Though very late, I did write this just a couple days after Sawyer turned 11 months!}

Sawyer turned 11 months last Saturday... so, so hard to believe his first birthday is almost here.  He is such an independent (in some ways), opinionated little things these days.  His personality just cracks us up!  We love our time with him in the mornings, evenings and weekends - we just have so much fun together as a family.  I wish it could always be the weekend!

What is SHH up to at 11 months?

Eating:  Oh my, I believe we have a picky eater on our hands!  He's not really interested in finishing his bottles lately, and he only eats some baby food when he feels like it.  If he's "full" he'll make himself gag right when the food hits his lips, and on several occasions has made himself throw up.  Lovely!  We've been trying table food but don't have much success there either.  He loves graham crackers.  Daycare lets him taste everything the bigger kids eat during the day, oatmeal, pancakes, sandwiches, etc., and he usually refuses it.  He spent the weekend with his Lolly and Pops a few weekends ago and he tolerated (liked?) roast but wasn't a fan of green beans.  I've tried cornbread, shredded cheese, brisket, bread, chocolate chip cookies and string cheese with him with little to no success.  He liked the soft white bread from a BBQ place, he greatly enjoyed the cookies, and yesterday he ate a little grapefruit pound cake.  Apparently at daycare yesterday he ate some Kraft cheese slices.  We're just trying whatever we can think to try, and still trying to get him to eat some baby food, too.  He's on the same schedule as usual - breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner.  Some weekends we skip the morning snack and he only eats 4 times instead of 5.  I still make 5-6 ounce bottles of formula, but he rarely finishes them.  This weekend I might try phasing in some whole milk... I cannot wait to stop buying formula!!  He also loves ice water from a sippy cup, but isn't drinking formula from a sippy yet.  I feel like I have to start making so many changes in the next few months!  Ack!

Sleeping:  Perfect, perfect sleeper still.  He still does one nap at daycare, but will sometimes do 2 for us on the weekends, and they're usually at least an hour.  He goes to bed around 7:15 at night and wakes up about 7:15 in the morning, and doesn't wake up or even make noise in the night.  I leave at least 2 pacifiers in his crib, and he sleeps with his lovie (which I really don't think he cares about, but I like it!) and his soft blanket (which he is rarely still covered with in the mornings, but who cares).

Diapers:  We moved up to size 4 Pampers Cruisers.  They look so huge!

Clothes:  He can still wear 12-month things, but I'm buying 18-24 month clothes and pj's now!

New tricks:  Cruising along the walls or furniture.  Clapping when we ask him to!  Waving more and more.  Making piles - very organized.  Playing the guitar with daddy.  Playing peek-a-boo with us, and bringing the blanket over and down from his face on his own, like he's really playing with us now.  High-five!  Some how he picked up on this pretty quickly; I can say "high five!" and he holds on his hand for me.  So cute!  Shaking his head no.  First I just thought he was shaking his head for fun... now I think sometimes he really means no.  He shakes no when I try to feed him most often, and he makes the funniest face if I look at him and say no and shake my head.  He gets the biggest mischievous smile on his face then shakes his head.  It's hilarious.  I'm ready for him to learn to nod yes!

Sickness:  I thought we might get through this month with no sickness and no missed days of work or school! But alas, we were struck with a second ear infection late last week.  Wednesday night he was extra fussy, and then he woke up at 9pm screaming, which is so out of character for him.  We ended up taking turns sleeping with him in the chair in his room, and finally around 6am it seemed his fever broke and he slept in his bed for a glorious 3 hours.  We took him to the doctor that morning and her reaction to looking in his ears was "oh, that's bad."  Poor thing!  He seemed to feel a little better during the day and was back to normal that night, thanks to some antibiotics and ibuprofen.  I loved having a special day at home with him anyway!

Loves:  Bath time.  Sharing toys with Dixie.  Playing the guitar.  Bubbles!  Drinking ice water out of a sippy cup.  Graham crackers - the only food I've seen him actually shake with excitement about!  Taking things out of baskets/boxes/etc and putting them in separate piles.  He's a big help with laundry!  Chocolate chip cookies.  Swings at the playground.  Gravel at the playground.  Playing peek-a-boo.  Pacifiers - he's fine without one, but when he sees one or we offer him one he gets so happy!  Shaking his head no all.the.time.

Happy 11 months, Peanut!
