Overslept because Sawyer woke up at 4am and I apparently turned off my alarm at 6:30am. Were rushing around getting dressed when my mom's husband arrived at 8:45am to paint our bathroom. He rang the doorbell which set the dogs off which woke Sawyer up which meant on top of being late anyway, I had to feed him. Add 30 more minutes. Finally we're ready to go to work - and find out the lights we bought for the bathroom for Jim to install won't work or it will cost a lot of extra money to patch the sheetrock, etc, etc. We decide to drop Sawyer off at Lolly's and head to Home Depot for new ones, with a more specific idea of what we need. Return 1 light and 1 mirror to Home Depot {the other light and mirror we'd already opened at home}. Didn't see any lights we liked. Went to Lowe's and finally found a light. Couldn't find a mirror we liked to go with the new lights. {We had originally planned to use 2 lights and 2 mirrors, and then decided if we needed just 1 light we needed just 1 large mirror. Finally decided 1 light and 2 mirrors would just have to look okay, thanks to my mom talking me off a ledge.} Went back to Home Depot and re-bought the mirror we'd just returned after hunting for it all over the store since it was already on its way to be put back. We also ordered a new water heater and set up installation for this afternoon. Expensive but apparently our current one is leaking all over our garage floor. We go home, show Jim the light, and he says it's still the same issue as our other lights. Want to cry and scream. He offers to find one for us since we clearly are having major difficulties. I head to work and Jeremy goes to "work from home" at Lolly's. Think everything is calmed down. I get home at 5:30, meet Jeremy, and the paint job and new light looked great! Bad news - the mirrors we'd bought, returned, then bought back are too wide to fit between the outlets and too tall to fit over the outlets but under the new light. Get the right measurements and head back to Home Depot to return the mirrors. We also box up the original light fixture we'd left at home earlier to return. It breaks as we're packing it up. Good thing it was only $28. First we return the second light fixture we bought to Lowe's and check out their mirrors. They have a large rectangle one that could work, but I'm worried it will look dinky and not the right size. We go to Home Depot to return our 2 original mirrors. Still didn't find any news ones that were the right size. Finally we decided to take a chance on 2 oval mirrors that attach to the wall with brackets and tilt, thinking even if they covered the outlets slightly, they could be tilted for access to the outlets. We think our light/mirror ordeal is over...until Jeremy tries to hang them because it should be relatively easy. Except that he can't get one of the brackets onto the mirror all the way and it won't hang right. I really thought he was going to have a breakdown last night over it...
...fast forward to today. Our house is getting its first professional cleaning courtesy of More Hands Maids. I know our moms are really excited about this, as are we. They're charging us by the hour and call to say it's going to take them 4 hours to do everything on our cleaning list. This increases our cost but we're hopeful the house will be sparkling tonight! We also had our water heater installation today. Apparently the maids let the plumber in because I received a fabulous phone call from him this afternoon. 1) We ordered the wrong water heater - 40 gallon tall instead of 40 gallon short. 2) The City of Houston requires a permit and inspection for installing a new water heater, which means all work must be done to code. It came as no surprise to us that our current leaking water heater was not to code. Literally nothing in our house is to code, through no fault of ours. It did come as a shock that the price to bring everything up to code doubled our initial cost of the water heater and installation. We're taking a time out on the water heater mess to figure out how to best proceed.
So...who wants to buy our house??
{Just heard from my father-in-law that our house looks "show room beautiful." He also hung the mirrors for us. Praise Jesus!
And we do need a new water heater.}
