2 Months!

My peanut is 2 months old! I can't believe it. He is huge! When we were waiting to see our pediatrician a 2-week-old baby was in the waiting room with us. I couldn't believe Sawyer was that small! I miss his newborn-ness but I also love to see him grow and develop and he's so fun right now.

So what is SHH up to at 2 months?

He weighed 10 lbs, 7 oz (25th %) and was 22-3/4 inches long (50th %) at his appointment last week. He's a string bean! He got his first shots and he did so well! He'd been sleeping and it was right about time for his next bottle, so I got it all ready thinking he'd need a bottle to stop screaming. Well, he did scream but settled down as soon as we got in the parking lot and slept the entire way home. I was very proud of my boy!

He's wearing 0-3 month clothes but he's definitely outgrown his 0-3 month footie pj's. Right now he just wears the 0-3 month gowns and 6 month footies. I just bought him a bunch of new outfits from Target today that I'm really excited about! Don't let anyone tell you dressing boys isn't fun, because it totally is! Everywhere I shop has adorable boys things!

He is so, so fun right now! He's sleeping through the night - we typically put him down between 11pm and midnight and he sleeps until 8:30am. I felt like a bad mom having him stay up so late so the other night I put him down at 9:30pm and he did great sleeping until 4am. So I'm not making that mistake again. He's great during middle-of-the-night feedings but this working mom doesn't want to make that a habit! He smiles and coos all the time and it makes my day! I swear I heard a big old belly laugh in his sleep the other day, so I'm hoping laughs aren't too far away. He really likes music, singing to him, anything that plays music, whatever. He is really enjoying his bouncy chair now, which makes my life a lot easier when I need to cook or hang up clothes. If you time it right and put him in the chair right after a bottle he might even take a nap! He's really easy to take to go do things, as long as you leave right after a bottle. He'll just look around quietly or nap. He loves taking baths, and I love that he loves them. He's not kicking or splashing yet, but he just sits quietly and relaxes in the warm water. He usually screams bloody murder when you take him out and he's cold, but some warm pj's help! The other night I laid him on the bed while I hung up clothes and for a good 30 minutes he talked and smiled at the ceiling fan and at a brightly colored stuffed Popple I put next to him. (Children of the '80's - do you remember Popples? I bought one on eBay a few years ago for nostalgia's sake.) He's so easy! His reflux still bothers him a little bit, and he has some worse days than others. In general I still think some babies have it much worse and I'm holding off on prescription medications in the hope he'll outgrow it in a couple months. He's eating almost 6 ounces now with most bottles - I can't believe he used to only eat 2! He really seems to only fuss when he's tired or hungry, both of which I can tell and know how to handle (rock to sleep and get him a bottle stat!). I'm feeling pretty confident in mommyhood these days...and I can definitely see what people mean when they say you're tempted to try for another baby around 3 or 4 months because they're so cute and fun and good! But I won't...promise!

My transition back to work has been not so bad, thanks in large part to his grandmothers keeping him during the week. I don't feel too guilty about leaving him with them, and I know they love their time with him. And I still feel like I get a good amount of time with him in the evenings. I'm ending my second week back and I'm feeling good about our routine. The first day was rough - especially getting home late with a crying, hungry baby, barking, hungry dogs, and finding dog barf on our rug. But I knew it would just take time to get into a routine and sure enough we've found it. Really this week has been wonderful. I would still rather spend my days with Sawyer just because he's awesome and so much fun, but this isn't as horrible as I anticipated. Thanks Lolly and Mimi!

Now enough with the words...onto the cute!
