707b Reunion Weekend!

My junior year of college I lived in a duplex in Hyde Park (the address being 707b, hence the nickname) with 5 other girls - Sarah, Adrienne, Pam, Paige and Becky. It was absolutely my favorite time in college, and at my wedding, Sarah, Pam, Adrienne and Becky were my bridesmaids. Adrienne lives in New York, Becky lives in Dallas, and even though Pam and Sarah are in the area, it's tough to see them with our work schedules and being in complete different areas of town. We have tried every year since college to plan an awesome girls weekend at the Hyatt Lost Pines or something and we never succeed. It seems we only get together when we can't even plan it that way! First Sarah said she was visiting Adrienne in New York last March. I had vacation days to burn, so I planned on joining her. Then Becky and Pam were able to join as well! This year we did have a weekend planned at HLP in June, but I opted out after getting laid off and attempting to be more frugal. So we did the "poor man's" version and got together at Pam's parents' house in Magnolia this past weekend!

Now, it is not really a "poor man's" version of anything! Their house is gorgeous! It was custom built, on acreage, heated pool, movie room with leather recliners, the works. Plus Pam's mommy was a sweet hostess and got us Lupe Tortilla for dinner on Friday night AND made us muffins and fresh fruit salad for breakfast. Yum!

After we all arrived on Friday night, we took a dip in the saltwater pool and watched Confessions of a Shopaholic in the movie room. I get very uncomfortable in movie theaters, having to sit for so long, but lounging on the recliners with blankets on each seat...amazing. I don't think I can ever go back to a regular theater!

Saturday we played the whole day by ear and had a blast! We ate lunch at La Madeleine in Market Square, shopped around (all being good and not buying much!), got a snack of gelato at Black Walnut, then opted for pedicures. We tried to see a showing of the Time Traveler's Wife at Market Square but it was packed, so we had dinner at Cheesecake Factory (which had a wait of less than 30 minutes on a Saturday night!) then saw a later showing at the Tinseltown in the Woodlands.

{For the movie record, I thought Confessions was really cute and I did not like Time Traveler's Wife. I have read the Shopaholic books but not Time Traveler's Wife, which could explain that. Pam and Sarah liked it a lot though, and Becky was with me.}

Sunday we slept in a little and needed to head out, though I think Pam hung around to swim!

It was such a fun weekend, and we're so lucky we were able to make it happen! Becky went back to school on Monday, so this was the last weekend we got her before she disappeared into the world of 3rd graders until next May! :)

We only took ONE picture, Sunday morning, on self-timer, the whole entire weekend. And I haven't uploaded it, so no pictures yet!

  2. Was Paige's feelings hurt when she was the only one that was not a bridesmaid?
