On the 4th of July four years ago, Jeremy and I watched Austin fireworks from a parking garage on 360 - him knowing the next day he would propose to me over dinner at the Driskill, me being completely clueless that our lives were about to change! (We got engaged on July 5, 2005, our year and a half anniversary...if you count something like that.) This year I was not optimistic about our plans - we didn't really have any plans, anyway (the two years before consisted of getting stuck in a Target parking lot for an hour and buying our car from Carmax). Luckily, our friend Justin had an expert plan for fireworks-watching and he let us tag along! We started with dinner at Empire Cafe, which is never a bad thing. Justin & Emily live a few blocks from there, so we dropped our cars off and Justin drove around to find us a parking spot. We only had to walk about 10 minutes down Taft to Allen Parkway, and we got a spot on one of the medians (the street is closed, obviously). The show started and I had no idea how great our seats were until then! We were right under the show! It was so fun! And since Justin did such a great parking job, it took us no time to get back to their place and into the pool for a late-night swim.
(Please excuse the quality - the Coolpix isn't cutting it anymore.)

It ended up being a fun night and we might even try to make it a tradition next year!
Kevin & his "date"
Not too great on dressing patriotic...
The right half of the picture of all of us is very partriotic -- the left half, not so much.
