Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend Jeremy's brother and sister-in-law flew into town. It was really nice to have them here for a regular, low-key weekend! Friday night after they flew in, we had homemade brisket, green beans and baked potatoes - YUM! The next morning we left early for Austin to meet my family at Green Pastures for lunch to celebrate Granmomo's 81st birthday.

Then we saw Amanda's big girl apartment and I mentally prepared myself for the hike to the stadium. Luckily, we bought our own tickets on StubHub for this game since Josh and Jamie were sitting with Jeremy's parents and they happened to come with a parking pass! We got to park in a garage really close to the stadium, so I didn't have to hike anywhere, and we completely lucked out with the weather also! It was overcast, so it wasn't even warm, but it didn't rain either. The game was so pleasant...I could have napped! :) This was in the height of me not feeling well, and I started to get antsy during the 3rd quarter, so I walked around, got a snack, went to the bathroom and that made me feel a lot better. Our seats were in the same section as the family's but ours were in the lower part which happens to have individual seats instead of bleachers. It was a lovely game experience for me! Plus we won!

Judy and me during the 4th quarter. It looked like it was going to rain, then it started raining crickets! I kept my poncho on as protection!

The brothers - aren't they cute??
Our mistake after the game was meeting up with my sister, her boyfriend, and our friend Chris to get some dinner. We should have hit the road and driven through Whataburger in Giddings like Josh, Jamie, Judy and Tony did. We ended up at Matt's El Rancho, with 10 minutes until the kitchen closed and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, that put us leaving Austin at 12:30am. We stopped outside of Austin to get gas and then stopped again in Giddings for some eye drops and a snack. It was a rough drive! I have never nodded my head so hard in my life! Poor Jeremy did all the driving. We got home safely a little after 3am and died in our bed. The next day we met Josh, Jamie, Judy, Tony, Aunt Pat, Uncle Dan, cousin Amy, her husband Chris, their baby Katie, and Meemaw and Peepaw for lunch. We were still exhausted but it was fun to be with everyone! After lunch we forced the fam to try Mam's Shaved Ice, which they loved and were eternally grateful we introduced them to it! :) Then naps were had by all. Later in the evening we played Speed Scrabble and Uno - love game nights!
On Monday, Jamie and Josh's plane didn't leave until later in the evening, so we decided to head to Kemah for lunch. We hadn't been since Ike, and though we could definitely still see effects of the storm around, Kemah looked brand new! (And it is!) We ate lunch at Landry's, which has these gorgeous frameless windows overlooking the water. Lunch was good but when we tried to walk around after it was just scorching outside!

We had a great weekend! And we can't wait to see Jamie and Josh back here in December for Christmas. They get about a thousand days off from their jobs, so I hope they'll spend lots of time here!
*Oh and I forgot (this is what happens when you blog 1 month+ late) - Jamie and Josh got me the most beautiful pink and green Vera Bradley diaper bag!! I am SO excited about it! And as Jamie said, boy or girl, the bag is for mom, so she had to get it in pink! :)
