On a lighter note...

I've had a fun week and we're set to have a pretty fun weekend! (If I don't die from exhaustion - I have scheduled nap times throughout!)

Tuesday night, my friend Sarah and I {along with 4,000 other of my closest friends} went to Beth Moore's bible study on Revelation at HFBC. I've never seen her speak, nor have I done any of her bible studies, nor I have been to HFBC, so it was exciting on many fronts for me. And boy, can I see why 4,000 women from all over the Houston area trek there to hear her speak. I just think it's amazing that HFBC opens their doors for that many people, many of whom aren't members of the church. Pastor Gregg, who I have heard a lot about, was even there and Beth introduced him, so that was cool for me also. I have never even ventured into Revelation nor am I any type of Biblical scholar, so I wasn't sure how much I would get out of it, but I thought it was really good. First they had praise and worship, led by the cutest bunch of singers ever. Then Beth came out and she is just awesome. She's cute, and funny, and explains stuff well, and keeps your attention. At the beginning she asked for several people to stand up and say a revelation they had this past week. A girl close to my age got up and said about a year ago she lost her mother, who loved Beth Moore, and this girl just couldn't bring herself to go to any of Beth's bible studies or to even go to church since then. Bless her heart, that is way too young to lose your mama. But she said she just felt called to return to this bible study and that was her revelation. So we all clapped for her, I (pregnant lady) started crying, and then Beth said "well, I'm a mom, so just let me give you a hug!" Ohhhhhh, I love her! I was very pleased with the study, we just did a small section of scripture and she broke it down section by section, and then explained things in more detail and even gave us some information on backgrounds of words or Jewish traditions, etc. As a girl who enjoys history, I thought that was especially cool! If you're in the area or don't mind driving, I highly recommend it - just get there early so you can get parking and a seat (we arrived 1 hour before start time), and plan on a little traffic when leaving. All told I left work at 5 and got home after bible study a little after 9.

Coming up tomorrow, and this is almost shameful to write in the same post as Beth Moore, I am meeting Becky and my sister in Dallas for the Britney Spears concert! She is supposed to put on a great show, and I missed her last time she came through Texas in March, so I'm really excited to have tickets on the second leg of her tour. Plus I get to hang out with my sister and Becky - life doesn't get much better! (The aforementioned scheduled nap times will be sleeping in tomorrow morning before driving to Dallas, then at least resting when I get to Becky's place.)

Saturday morning, Amanda and I will caravan down to Austin for the UT-Texas Tech game that night! (Insert nap time at Amanda's place here.) Jeremy and his parents will come up together from Houston, and then I'm hoping we get to meet up with some friends before the game, or at least do something fun! If you're not into college football, first, I'm sorry, and second, UT was undefeated last year until we went to Lubbock later in the season to get beat by Tech in the last few minutes. Had we not lost to Tech, we would have certainly been in the Big 12 championship game (OU went, who we actually beat last year! 45-35 forever!) and then gone onto the BCS Championship Bowl Game (OU lost that one to Florida). Needless to say, Texas fans have been plotting revenge since last year on November 7 when we realized we would meet Tech again, this time in Austin. Tickets are being sold at outrageous prices...thank goodness we have such generous parents to let us tag along and use 2 of their seats, and that Josh and Jamie have to attend a family wedding this weekend (sorry guys!).

And Sunday will truly be a day of rest for our family!

  1. I am soooooo jealous about the Beth Moore Bible study but I am glad you got to go! Have to admit I wouldn't cross the street to see Britney for a lot of reasons but I hope the 3 of you have fun.
