Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," declared the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

This verse came to mind upon some news our family received last night. My sweet step-sister Caroline was diagnosed with leukemia yesterday. It is both amazing and astounding the diagnosis was made so quickly. She is currently at Texas Children's Hospital, which makes me feel so blessed that such a world-renowned medical facility is in our home town. We don't know a lot of details - she was just diagnosed at 7 last night. She has received plasma and platelets all night, and should be having a bone marrow biopsy today (which alone breaks my heart for her - I hear it's very painful!) once her platelet count stabilizes. Heather and my dad are understandably a mess, as I am sure her older brother and little sister are right now as well. And bless her heart, she's only 10 years old. I would imagine no adult fighting cancer is prepared for it, let alone an child. I feel extremely helpless in this situation, and I can't even imagine how her mother must feel. All we can do is pray for Caroline, the doctors and our family, so if you have a moment please join us in prayer.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

  2. I have been praying for Caroline, Heather, your dad, and the rest of your family since I heard the news yesterday. I know that Caroline has got some tough times ahead of her but I also know that we have a loving and merciful Father who specializes in tough times. One of my very favorite Bible verses is Romans 8:35-37 "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ... But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us."
We love you and will continue to pray!
