Snow Day!

As most Texans know, we got real, live snow in Houston last Friday! I know some areas got more than others - our neighborhood got a lovely, white blanket and it stuck all night until the sun melted it the next day.

Here's the front of our house - this was a couple hours into snowing. I jumped out to cover my plants and take a few pictures since Jeremy wasn't home to see it. Work let us go early, around 11am, because one employee had to use 4-wheel drive to get to his house in Angleton. Thanks, safety manager, we all appreciated the early dismissal!

More front yard. Our house doesn't have any large trees in the front anymore (thanks to lightning strikes and Ike) but it made for a pretty white lawn! Other houses on our street didn't get as much in their yards.

This is the "shack" in our backyard. I just thought the snow looked pretty on the roof!

And yes, you better believe I used self-timer to take a picture of myself in the snow! It's not flattering and I did it in the privacy of our backyard, which isn't as pretty, but I was so excited! I tried to get the dogs out but they feel the same way about snow they do about rain - why would I touch the ground if it's wet? So here is Baby Hamblen's first Houston snow and the best one I've ever seen! :)

Nothing compares to watching snow fall (when it sticks!) - it reminds me of being in Telluride, since I don't enjoy skiing or snowboarding, but I do love the snow! I got to sit inside all afternoon, Christmas lights on the tree blinking, watching snow fall outside with HGTV on in the background. Ahhhhhh.
