Friday evening my friend Becky came in town from Dallas to help me host my very first Stella & Dot trunk show the next day. (More on that later!) Pam drove up from Clear Lake and we had dinner at Zelko Bistro in the Heights. It was a fantastic dinner - everything is local or organic, and they even harvest their own local honey on site! Becky and I both had the short rib marinated in St. Arnold's root beer with cheddar polenta, Pam had the shrimp and grits, and we split Parmesan and truffle oil fries, a bottle of wine, and wedding cake for dessert. It was such a nice meal and so fun to have girl time together! It started storming so Pam waited out the weather with us at home while Becky and I organized our jewelry samples and Jeremy baked cookies. Yes - my husband baked us cookies, and they were better than any I have ever ever made (and I fancy myself a baker, so this hard to admit!).
Saturday morning we prepped a little more for the trunk show, and the party started at 2pm at my mom's house. A little aside - I recently started selling Stella & Dot jewelry (you can browse here!). Becky got me into it, and it's just fun. I enjoy networking and chatting and I love love jewelry and accessories, so it seemed like just a fun thing to do on the side, and put as little or as much as I want into it. My mom so kindly offered her home to host my launch show, and we had an awesome turnout! A lot of people came even though it was a busy weekend with Mother's Day and graduations and just life in general. I learned a lot about managing a trunk show and Becky was a huge help - I am so thankful she came in from Dallas, and I couldn't have pulled it off without her. (And if you're extra curious - you can still shop my trunk show through this link online until June 3).
I was totally drained after the trunk show, so I exchanged Mother's Day gifts with my mom, and headed back home to see my guys! We decided to try dinner out, drove all around Houston not able to decide on anything, and ended up at Beck's Prime about 10 blocks from our house. Ha! But we were able to sit outside and enjoy family time. It was such a nice meal. Sawyer even sat in a booster seat instead of a high chair, and he had a blast watching cars and buses and bugs go by while we ate. Jeremy was also a huge help to me Friday and Saturday so I could have a successful trunk show - he was nothing but helpful and supportive, and that of course made me feel even better about doing it. To reward his good behavior, he went out with friends Saturday night while I got all caught up on my trashy TV shows - a win for both of us. :)
Sunday morning Jeremy let me sleep in, but I couldn't fall back asleep after Sawyer told me good morning! So we were all lazy and hung out downstairs, playing with cars and trains, until lunch and Sawyer's nap. While he was sleeping, I met my sister at the Galleria and we were able to play all around Nordstrom, then we tried on piles and piles of clothes at Anthropologie. It was delightful! Once I got home, we did what I really wanted to for Mother's Day - take Sawyer to his first movie! We took him to see The Band of Misfit Pirates, and it went pretty well for an active two-year-old. He was sort of shocked when we walked into the theater - previews were already on and it was dark, so he snuggled into Jeremy and pigged out on popcorn and Reese's Pieces. He sat with Jeremy most of the movie, and was pretty good about being quiet (I love his sweet voice and running commentary - "Oh no! Horse fell down!" - but I am sure the other patrons did not). About an hour in he got restless and wanted to walk, so we left early, but it was a fun experience so I didn't mind. We stopped by Jeremy's parents' house to drop of Lolly's Mother's Day gifts and picked up dinner from Cafe Express (we love their shrimp and avocado salad!). Jeremy went out to celebrate the end of law school finals with some friends (our friend is in law school - not Jeremy!), but I was happy to have one-on-one time with Sawyer, so it worked well. At the end of the night, Sawyer laid in bed and held my hand and we sang songs before he went to sleep. It was so sweet and just the perfect end to my Mother's Day!
I did find one picture from the weekend...
