10 Months!

Between working and Sawyer's early bedtime and busy weekends, I haven't been very good about taking his monthly pictures. Better late than never!

I can not believe I have a 10-month-old. It is amazing to see how much he has learned and can do on his own, compared to being a newborn. Sawyer is just so much fun and constantly makes us laugh. I think he'll have a good sense of humor like his mom and dad!

What is SHH up to at 10 months?

Eating: Hmmmm. He normally is a great eater! He seemed a little hungry while at daycare, so I got some Gerber yogurt for him to have as a mid-morning snack. Then it seemed he was not finishing his bottles, so changed them a little to 5 ounces in the morning with fruit/cereal, then 3 6.5 ounce bottles at school, then a 6.5-7 ounce bottle at night before bed. This week especially he's been anti-bottle... so I'm not really sure what's going on! He's still eating all baby food - meats, veggies, fruits, cereals and yogurt. After the pediatrician told me at 9 months he needed more daily protein, I started feeding him a meat every evening at dinner. Though they gross me out, he thinks they're okay. He likes the spaghetti and meat sauce, apples and chicken, and sweet potatoes and turkey. He tends to gag on the chunkier foods, which is why I feel so anxious about feeding him more table foods. I tried feeding him a scrambled egg and he gagged then fed the rest to Dixie. We'll get there!

Sleeping: Sawyer is still a wonderful sleeper, praise the lord! He sleeps pretty consistently 12 hours a night - 7:30/45pm to 7:30/45am, with very few wake-ups in the night unless he's sick. He has some really good nap days at daycare, and some days it's the normal 30-minute nap (which makes for an earlier bedtime!!). At home on the weekends he'll usually nap once in the morning and once after lunch. Two is definitely the most naps he'll do during the day anymore, no matter how tired he is!

Diapers: Still size 3 Pampers Cruisers, though after several wet mornings, I've switched him to size 4's for sleeping and I think that's working really well!

Clothes: All 12-month and up from here on out!

New tricks: Clapping, when he wants to. I have caught him clapping his hands together but he doesn't do it on command. He also loves to throw his hands in the air and shake - maybe his version of clapping? It's hilarious. Starting to cruise along furniture and things, and he likes to walk around while holding our hands. I'd bet money he's walking by his birthday - maybe! He loves to drink out of normal cups, but we had a sippy cup breakthrough recently! He normally just chews on the spout but last weekend he actually drank some water like a big boy out of it! Throwing. He loves throwing things. He'll throw toys around then go chase them, and he has also started throwing when he's frustrated. What a stinker, we can't be starting this already! Holding his own bottles... sometimes.

Sickness: His nose is still always runny and he has a yucky cough right now - unfortunately I think that's just the norm for daycare kids this time of year. I can't wait to get through this gross time! He also had his first real rash that got him sent home from daycare. After a stressful afternoon, I switched pediatricians and our (wonderful) new doctor said it was just a viral rash and it had to run its course (and it never bothered him at all). I think we're through teething for a little while - he's sticking with 6 teeth, 4 top and 2 bottom, and I haven't seen any new ones wanting to break through yet. I think we all deserve a break! The best news is this week Sawyer never had a fever and we both got to work 5 full days - it's a miracle!

Loves: Snuggles. Dixie. Puffs. Watching Mickey Mouse while dad gets ready in the morning. Wipes or wet paper towels. Hitting 2 toys together to make noise. Pulling up, standing and cruising. Bath time, and getting wrapped in his towel afterwards. Playing Peekaboo. Dogs. Waving at the fan. Playing in the ball pit at school - especially throwing the balls out. Dropping things on the floor and watching mom or dad or any willing party pick them up. Baby Peekaboo, Goodnight Moon and Baby Colors books - he'll get these and sit in our laps while we read them over and over.

It seems like so much happened from 9 to 10 months, like Sawyer went from being my tiny baby to a real little boy. I love playing with him - he is tons of fun, and always giving us a little mischievous grin about something. Jeremy gets great special time with him in the mornings, and I love our evenings together. We've been so busy the past few weekends we're looking forward to spending some good quality family time together this month. We moved him up to the mobile infant class at daycare and it's awesome! I had a lot of anxiety about it, and dad was out of town for a full week right when he started and Sawyer was not doing great during the drop off in the mornings. But he's got tons of space and toys to place with, safe things to pull up on, and his very favorite - a ball pit. The teachers are wonderful, and it's a little more structured like "school" instead of just taking care of tiny babies. They have sort of set meal times, set nap time, and set activity time. We're all happy with the move, and I always count my blessings on having found a place that works so well for all of us.

No stats this month, but I did take him to the doctor a week before he turned 10 months and he weighed 21 lbs. That's up almost 2 lbs from when he saw the pediatrician at 9 months - so a scale was off, or he's packing it on!

No more paparazzi, please!
